Patsy Kensit "really appreciated" her job as an actress following her stint on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 43-year-old former 'Holby City' star - who finished in seventh place alongside professional dancer Robin Windsor in last year's series of the BBC One show - admitted while appearing the programme lifted her "emotionally", she found memorising complicated routines challenging.
She said: "It sounds like such a cliché, but dancing really does lift you emotionally. Also, I'd been going to work for the past 38 years and taking it for granted that I can memorise a script immediately.
"I've got a photographic memory; I've been using that muscle in my brain forever. I can cry on cue. I can learn pages of dialogue, but when it comes to doing a dance routine my mind could go blank at any second. It made me really appreciate my job."
Patsy revealed she is now planning to take a "little holiday" from her acting career.
She added: "I'm taking a little holiday. It's been a phenomenally busy seven-and-a-half years being on 'Emmerdale' and 'Holby City' and doing 'Strictly'. I've just finished the 'Strictly' tour, which was fantastic, and I'll continue dancing, but I've got no ambitions outside British television - it's where I want to be."
