Philip Glenister will play a solicitor in a new BBC crime drama.
The 48-year-old actor - best known for portraying tough detective Gene Hunt in 'Ashes to Ashes' - will appear alongside David Suchet and Thekla Reuten in the four-part conspiracy thriller, 'Undisclosed'.
The drama follows Philip's character Harry Venn, who takes on a case that draws him into the investigation of his brother's death 20 years earlier.
Philip said: "I am looking forward to shooting 'Undisclosed', which I feel is a bold, innovative, complex piece of drama from the pen of Ronan Bennett."
Programme chiefs admit Philip was their first choice for the role.
Executive producer David Thompson said: "As soon as we started discussing this idea with Ronan Bennett and Walter Bernstein, the first actor who sprang to mind was Phil Glenister. The role is tailor-made for him.
'Poirot' star David will play barrister Sir Nigel Fountain while Thekla - who appeared alongside Colin Farrell in 'In Bruges' - portrays lawyer Gina Hawkes.
"Ronan and Walter have given us an electric and highly provocative drama which is very much of the moment."
Filming on 'Undisclosed' stars in Belfast next month.
