Kate Middleton has 'strong ideas' about royal wedding

Kate Middleton has "very strong ideas" about her wedding.

The pretty brunette will marry Britain's Prince William at London's Westminster Abbey on April 29 and Leicestershire baker Fiona Cairns, who has been chosen to make the couple's traditional wedding cake, revealed the bride-to-be has been heavily involved in the planning.

She said: "She has guided us right from the beginning and has quite strong ideas.

"She knew very much what she wanted and she brought us mood boards and told us what influences she would like us to use on the cake."

Ms Cairns - who says she is "privileged" to be making the royal wedding cake, also revealed Kate has asked for the cake to be decorated with edible flowers - an English rose, a Scottish thistle, a Welsh daffodil and an Irish shamrock.

She added: "I couldn't believe it, I'm very excited, very daunted and very privileged - a mixture of emotions.

"It's multi-tiered, doesn't have colour - it's cream and white (icing) - and it's a traditional cake but also quite delicate and modern, all the tiers will have a different theme."

Kate and William will have a second cake, an unbaked chocolate biscuit creation by McVitie's, made to a secret Royal Family recipe because it was one of the prince's childhood favourites.

Paul Courtney of McVitie's said the exact recipe would remain secret, explaining: "I'd love to be able to tell you, I really would. However, it's a royal secret. The recipe was given to us by the palace and we've been sworn to secrecy."
