Steve Harvey has catapulted himself to love guru status through his morning talk show and by writing a book “Act like a Lady, Think like a Man” that gives relationship advice. He also relayed advice to lovelorn folks through his co-host Shirley Strawberry via her Strawberry Letter segment. Now Shirley has written her own tome, “The Strawberry Letter” which gives relationship advice to a target audience mainly composed of single black mothers. Using her experiences as a single black woman who has a failed marriage behind her and involvement in abusive relationships, she has the experience to give advice to her readers and listeners.
Nobody wants to be in a bad marriage or relationship but that happens so often that our divorce rate has skyrocketed to over 40 percent. Despite all the relationship advice available many people will hire divorce attorneys to end their marriages. The openness and vulnerability that Strawberry uses in her book to relay advice is commendable. A person who admits their own failures in a marriage has the potential to correct those mistakes in the future but if lessons aren’t learned divorce lawyers become a necessity.
The many people who divorce their spouses often seek the advice of these love gurus which is admirable as they really want to work on saving their relationships but both parties have to be willing. Unfortunately some things can’t be salvaged so a divorce lawyer becomes a savior to those experiencing marital woes.
