Speaking to Access Hollywood, actress Debbie Reynolds recalled her friendship with the legendary Elizabeth Taylor who died yesterday of congestive heart failure. Reynolds said “at least she is out of her pain”, speaking of Taylor’s battle with chronic back pain and her heart problems. Debbie Reynolds age 78 was one year younger than Elizabeth and the two were friends since they were 7 and 8, respectively. Reynolds and Taylor rekindled their friendship after a controversial love triangle tore their friendship apart in 1959.
Elizabeth ‘stole’ Reynolds husband Eddie Fisher but the two made up and remained good friends. The Fisher and Taylor marriage lasted for roughly five years. Elizabeth Taylor was notorious not only for her talent as an actress and philanthropist but also for her eight marriages, all dissolved by competent divorce lawyers. The actress was married to Richard Burton twice who co-starred with her in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolfe?” Taylor never had any children. As a high profile movie star Elizabeth needed proficient divorce attorneys to protect her assets and interests.
The world will miss the legendary actress but at least we still have Debbie Reynolds. The numerous marriages of Taylor was a constant source of entertainment for the tabloids but her last marriage to Larry Fortensky in 1996 so she dropped out of the scandal pages.
