NCAA Final Four is Set - Underdogs and Old Favorites Among Top Teams

The NCAA Tournament concluded its second weekend of play with only four teams eligible for the National Championship. This year's Final Four includes no number one seeds from two weeks ago, and a matchup that guarantees at least an 8 seed will play for a shot at the title.

The Butler Bulldogs are back in the Final Four a year after coming within one shot of winning the title game against the Duke Blue Devils. The Bulldogs almost didn't make it back again. In the early rounds of the tournament they beat teams on the final shot (Old Dominion), because of and in spite of dumb fouls (Pittsburgh) and after rallying from more than 10 points down (Florida). The team has the edge going into their game against Virginia Commonwealth University, but don't expect the Rams to be an easy victory.

VCU is the darling of this NCAA Tournament. An 11 seed making it to the Final Four has only been seen twice before. Neither of the previous teams came from a play-in game as the Rams have done. They beat USC to make the field of 64, took down Georgetown easily and then beat a highly touted Purdue team with ease. It took a similarly high seeded Florida State to challenge the Rams, losing to them in overtime, and the number 1 seeded Kansas Jayhawks lost by 10 on Sunday. VCU is playing good basketball at the right time but could have trouble if their luck runs out.

Connecticut is in the Final Four again as a 3 seed behind the play of Kemba Walker. Walker has dazzled as the Huskies took down Bucknell and Cincinnati without problems. They pushed past San Diego State and pulled away from Arizona late to seal their fate. They will play Kentucky on the way to the Championship game which will be a tough matchup against another good team.

Kentucky reached the final four by defeating North Carolina. The Wildcats almost lost in the first round to Princeton and faced a challenge in 1 seed Ohio State. They have played the hardest schedule of the tournament and has risen to the challenge at every turn. Kentucky expects themselves to play for the title and if they reach their potential they can.
