On Monday, Barry Bonds' former mistress testified against him in court. Called upon by federal prosecutors as a witness in the Bonds perjury trial, Kimberly Bell said that Bonds blamed a 1999 elbow injury on steroid use.
Bell also said that Bonds used to talk about the widepread use of steroids in the world of professional baseball.
"He mentioned that other players do it and that's how they got ahead, that's how they achieved," said Bell.
According to Bell, she met Bonds in 1994 at a barbecue and went on to have a 9-year affair with Bonds even after he married someone else in 1999.
Bell also said during her testimony that Bonds' sexual performance decreased in the latter years of their relationship. According to Bell, Bonds' testicles changed shape and shrank.
And perhaps most shockingly, Bell testified that Bonds started to become agressive during the final years of their relationship.
"He was increasingly aggressive, irritable, agitated and very impatient," said Bell.
Bell said that Bonds threatened "to cut my head off and leave me in a ditch... [and to] cut out my breast implants because he paid for them."
Prosecutors argue that the alleged changes in Bonds' previous behavior could be explained by his alleged use of steroids.
