NFL Scores Week 16: Baltimore Ravens Stun Dallas Cowboys in Final Minutes to Inch Closer to Playoff Berth

Joe Flacco was 17/25 passing for 149 yards and a touchdown, Willis McGahee rushed for 108 yards and a TD and Le’Ron McClain collected 139 yards on the ground and a score as the Baltimore Ravens (10-5) stunned the Dallas Cowboys (9-6) 33-24 in the final game at Texas Stadium and moved closer to locking up an AFC playoff berth while leaving the Cowboys needing a lot of help.

Through the first three quarters of the game the score mirrored the predictions as the Ravens held a hard fought 16-7 advantage. The Cowboys actually jumped to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter as Tashard Choice scored on a 2-yard run but Dallas wouldn’t put points on the board again until the final frame.

Baltimore wasn’t much better as Matt Stover provided all the points for the Ravens in the first half with three field goals to give his squad a 9-7 advantage at the half.

Flacco boosted the Ravens lead to 16-7 late in the third quarter when he hit Derrick Mason on a 13-yard touchdown toss but the Cowboys offense found its stride in the fourth, unfortunately for them Baltimore did the same.

Nick Folk cut the Dallas deficit to 16-0 with a field goal early in the fourth but Stover’s fourth boot of the game with 6:30 left pushed the lead back to nine points. It wasn’t until the 3:50 mark that Dallas finally found the endzone as Tony Romo hit Terrell Owens on a 7-yard touchdown pass to get the Cowboys to within 19-17. Within 18 seconds the Ravens reclaimed their nine-point lead as McGahee went 77-yards on first down for a touchdown.

Dallas bounced right back and Romo tossed his second TD of the frame, a 21-yarder to Jason Witten, to get back within striking distance but in stunning style the Ravens needed 18 seconds once again to shock the Cowboys as McClain went 82-yards on first down to push the lead to 33-24 with 1:18 left on the clock and Dallas had no more answers.

The Ravens had 265 yards rushing in the game and 159 of those yards were collected on the two carries from McGahee and McLain late in the fourth. Baltimore is now a win away from locking up the sixth spot in the AFC wildcard race. As for the Cowboys, they will need to beat the Philadelphia Eagles next week and need losses from several teams in the NFC.
