Tommy Duckworth won't back down against Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) in 'Coronation Street'.
The pair clashed when Tommy arrived back in Weatherfield last night (28.03.11) and Chris Fountain - who plays the ladies man grandson of street legends Jack and Vera Duckworth - has revealed his character will continue to stick up for Kevin's nemesis Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) because he feels he is the closest thing he has to family in the street.
Chris explained: "I think Tyrone is the closest thing to family that Tommy has got on the street, so he does get on with Tyrone and he tries to stick up for him a few times against Kevin.
"Tommy doesn't take no funny business. He'll say it how it is, and basically that's the way he is."
Tyrone and Kevin's friendship was ruined when Kevin fathered a child with Tyrone's wife Molly Dobbs.
Chris - who previously played bad boy Justin Burton in 'Hollyoaks' - also revealed he feels huge pressure as he is the only Duckworth remaining in the ITV1 soap after both Jack and Vera died, but says he is settling in and has vowed to do his best.
He told the programme's official website: "I was really pleased when I first got the job. Obviously it's daunting coming from another soap but now to be here on the cobbles is amazing. Everyone I've met so far has been really nice and welcoming.
"It's pressure to carry on the Duckworth name, it's such a famous name in soapland and being the only Duckworth left on 'Corrie' is a big ask but I'm doing my best."
