NFL Scores Week 16: Tennessee Titans Lock Up Home-Field with Win Over Pittsburgh Steelers

Kerry Collins was 20/29 passing for 216 yards and a touchdown, the duo of Chris Johnson and LenDale White combined for 117 yards on the ground and a pair of TDs and the Tennessee Titans (13-2) defense forced four turnovers to knock off the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers (11-4) 31-14 to lock up home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

After a scoreless first quarter Tennessee built a 10-0 lead in the second with a 42-yard field goal from Rob Bironas and a 34-yard touchdown pass from Collins to Justin Gage. Ben Roethlisberger managed to get the Steelers on the board when he found Santonio Holmes on a 31-yard touchdown toss and Pittsburgh went into the break trailing 10-7.

Roethlisberger then gave the Steelers their first lead of the game when he hit Hines Ward on a 21-yard touchdown pass and it looked like Pittsburgh was establishing control of the game. That momentum was quickly reversed as Johnson scored on a 21-yard run for the Titans and Tennessee reclaimed the lead 17-14.

Tennessee then got some breathing room early in the fourth as White pounded in a touchdown from a yard out for a ten-point advantage and the Titans defense took care of the rest. Michael Griffin finished off the scoring for the Titans when he picked off Roethlisberger with 16 seconds left in the game and went 83 yards for a touchdown.

The Titans will now have home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs while the Steelers are still guaranteed a first-round bye and the number two seed.
