Poisonous Cobra Escapes from Bronx Zoo

by Daun Lee

New York Magazine reported that staff of the Reptile House in the Bronx Zoo closed the exhibit Friday 3/25, when they discovered a 20 inch long juvenile Egyptian cobra escaped from and enclosure that wasn’t part of the main exhibit. According to the Gothamist the zoo’s reptiles experts believe the poisonous creature is hiding somewhere in the confines of the building since snakes are uncomfortable in open spaces. The herpetologists at the zoo are trying to find the escapee. As of today, the snake is still at large but poses no threat to the people of New York.

Zoos employ specialists to take care of their snakes and other potentially deadly creatures; however there are many people on the world who like to obtain and keep poisonous snakes and other predators. Accidental injuries occur sometimes from encounters with a person’s pets including dogs and cats and if they own exotic pets like snakes or big cats. These injuries can be severe or mild but the negligent pet owner should be held accountable and will when the injured enlists an accident attorney.

Most often people are harmed not by exotic pets but by dogs that can be aggressive with strangers. An attack from a dog can maim a person but an accident lawyer can assist an injured person with obtaining compensation. No matter how severe  a person is injured by another’s pet they deserve the diligent service of an accident attorney to get money for their medical bills.
