New York City's most wanted bank robber was busted Tuesday by a joint FBI/NYPD task force in Queens, a day after pulling off his ninth heist -- this one in New Jersey, officials said.
6-foot-5 Marat Mikhaylich - dubbed the "Holiday Bandit" for hitting a string of banks during the holiday season - was arrested without incident in Woodhaven around 9:30 a.m., authorities said.
"The Holiday Bandit's three-month bank robbery spree has come to an end," said FBI Assistant Director in Charge Janice Fedarcyk.
"This should serve as a stark reminder to anyone who wishes to brandish a weapon, rob a bank, and put the lives of innocent civilians at risk: we will find you and bring you to justice."
Cops finally caught up to Makhaylich after spotting a gold 2007 Toyota Camry on 91st Ave. in Queens that authorities say he stole after a robbery at Cathay Bank in Edison, NJ. He was arrested and will be arraigned later Tuesday in Brooklyn federal court.
Mikhaylich was wanted for seven bank robberies in New York, plus two across the river in New Jersey.
