Justin Timberlake to receive Kids' Choice Award

Justin Timberlake is to receive a prestigious accolade at Saturday's (02.04.11) Nickelodeon 2011 Kids' Choice Awards.

The actor-and-singer - who is well-known for his environmental advocacy and work with charitable causes - will be presented with the Big Help Award at this weekend's ceremony in recognition of the work he has undertaken to help disadvantaged people.

In a statement to People.com, Justin said: "I was inspired at a young age by my parents and family to do everything possible to give back to the world around us.

"And it has become a mission of mine to help kids of all ages understand the importance of getting involved in their communities and local charities and doing their part to preserve the planet."

As well as hosting an annual star-studded week-long golf tournament to raise money for disadvantaged children, Justin climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, the world's largest free standing mountain, to raise awareness of the global water crisis in 2009.

The 30-year-old star said at the time: "I've been training four times a week to get my VO2 - oxygen consumption - levels up to expand my lungs. We'll climb for a week straight, carrying 30 lbs on our backs. It's going to be intense, but it's going to be so rewarding.

"We're going to be ready for it."

Willow Smith and the Black Eyed Peas are among the stars performing at Saturday's Nickelodeon 2011 Kids' Choice Awards.
