Adam Ant launches comeback

Adam Ant launched his comeback tour in London last night.

The 'Stand And Deliver' hitmaker - who has struggled with mental health problems in recent years - returned with a show at the Under The Bridge club in London's Chelsea district, backed by a new band, The Good, The Mad And The Lovely Posse.

Speaking of his forthcoming tour he said: "I'm really looking forward to it. I missed performing - that's what I do," although he also admitted: "And the money."

Adam, real name Stuart Goddard, also said he enjoyed performing more "now I know what I'm doing."

The tour of the UK will see Adam play his hits including 'Prince Charming' and 'Antmusic' as well as material from his comeback album 'Adam Ant is the Blueblack Hussar in Marrying the Gunner's Daughter'.

Adam's battles with his mental health have been well documented, with him sectioned under the Mental Health Act in 2003 and 2010. He has blamed his heavy medication for being unable to sing or perform, but recently claimed to have completed treatment and be back to full health.

He said last year: "I was on sodium valproate for seven years, which tells your brain not to get excited.

"I didn't write a song or pick up a guitar in that time - and piled on the weight. I may as well have been dead."

Adam Ant's UK tour stars on May 16 in Brighton.
