Michelle Williams loved stitched costumes

Michelle Williams says the best thing about starring in her new movie was the hand-stitched costumes.

The actress plays Emily in period western 'Meek's Cutoff' and admits she loved getting fitted for her on-screen outfits because they were made to fit her exactly.

She said: "The wonderful part was the costumes. All hand-stitched by two women, who did everything including the bonnets. Even doubles of our dresses. They stitched us into them, cut us out, then re-sewed us into them."

Michelle - who has a five-year-old daughter, Matilda, with the late Heath Ledger - also revealed how she never gets to keep any clothes designers lend her for events but says it would be pointless because she'd never get a chance to wear them.

Speaking to the New York Post newspaper while wearing a short white Chanel dress with black sequin cap sleeves, she said: "I don't get to keep this dress. Anyway, I take care of my baby, who's 5-and-a-half and just learned how to tie her shoes. I live in Brooklyn, I work, I'm being photographed now so where could I wear this again?"

While she enjoyed the clothes in 'Meek's Cutoff', Michelle recently revealed she "cursed the ground" constantly while shooting the movie because filming in scorching high temperatures in the Oregon desert was one of the most uncomfortable experiences of her life.

She said: "There were times that I cursed the ground. It's definitely the most demanding experience I've had in making a film.

"It stretched my understanding of what I was physically capable of.

"When it's 110 degrees it's hard to keep your energy up. You just want to curl up in a puddle of shade."
