Melanie Webb, of Queens NY shot and killed her older sister Tara Webb as she celebrated her 27th birthday in Long Island City over the weekend, cops said.
Melanie, 24 shot her sister in the apartment they shared in the Queensbridge Houses early Saturday, police said.
The dead sister Tara, had a 4-year-old son, Eric, who also lived in the second-floor home.
Melanie also shot her sister's boyfriend Terrell Carmichael, 26, twice in the torso, police said. He was in stable condition at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell on Tuesday night.
It was still not clear what sparked the gunfire. Police said Tuesday that Webb was charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, two counts of possession of a weapon and assault.
News of her arrest stunned friends and relatives.
"I don't know why that would happen," said a woman who identified herself as Carmichael's sister. "I would never think she would do that."
The sisters had lived in the building together for almost 10 years, neighbors said.
