James Corden, Simon Cowell and Davina McCall were among the stars who turned out to honour the nation's unsung heroes at the News of the World Children's Champions Awards tonight (30.03.11).
Hosted by 'Big Brother' presenter Davina, the ceremony - which is in its eighth consecutive year - recognises those who have gone the extra mile to make a difference to the lives of children in the UK, following a four-month country-wide search to find worthy winners.
With 'X Factor' boss Simon Cowell launching the evening at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, the likes of 'Gavin & Stacey' star James Corden, 'I'm A Celebrity . Get Me Out Of Here!' champion Stacey Solomon and former Spice Girls singer Emma Bunton all joined forces to pick ten winners out of thousands of nominees.
James - who welcomed his first child with fiancee Julia Carey into the world last week - admitted he has experienced a new "wave of love" for children since his son Max was born.
He told BANG Showbiz: "They're all unexpected feelings. The weirdest thing is, within about three seconds of seeing him you just have this wave of love. And you just go, 'I love you so much - and I haven't even touched you, I've only just seen you and I love you so much'."
Meanwhile, 2009 'X Factor' winner Alexandra Burke - who performed at the event - admitted she was "moved to tears" when she previously attended the News of the World Children's Champions Awards with her fellow 'X Factor' contestants.
She said: "When I was in 'X Factor' we came to these awards and I remember being moved to tears by the stories. It was so humbling. I never imagined one day I'd be up on that stage, I'm going to sing my heart out."
Peter Andre, Kerry Katona, Jeff Brazier, Lorraine Kelly and boyband Blue were also among those in attendance at the star-studded event.
