Hyundai Eliminates its Assurance Plan

by Daun Lee

Hyundai began providing the Assurance plan back in 2009 when the recession started that hurt automakers and consumers. The assurance plan allowed people who purchased their cars return the vehicles if they lost their jobs without penalty or detriment to their credit. This policy compelled Ford and GM to institute similar programs that have since been discontinued, as reported by USA Today. With the economy improving, Hyundai no longer sees the need for the Assurance program which will no longer be available after March 31st; only 350 cars were returned while the program was in place.
