Rookie American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez recently discussed the judges' seemingly quick decision last week to save Casey Abrams from being voted off the show.
Last week, Abrams received the fewest number of fan votes, but the judges didn't even let him finish his last-chance song before telling him that they were using their one and only save on him.
On Wednesday, Lopez appeared on Ryan Seacrest's radio show and explained the nature of the decision and whehter or not she had any regrets about making what some viewers might have considered a rushed decision.
"It was crazy. And we knew that it was kind of a radical decision because it was so early in the season," said Lopez.
"To be quite honest, there's been decisions that we've made or that I've thought about and I've made and I've pushed for that I thought, 'Oh God, did we do the right thing?'" said Lopez. "But that's one decision that I have not lost one ounce of sleep over. I just knew it was the right thing. Randy knew it was the right thing. Steven knew it was the right thing. This is one of our most dynamic performers. He's so interesting. He's so talented. I know it's crazy but we have to do it."
And now that the judges have no more saves left for the rest of the season, the fate of the contestants really is in the hands of viewers. And that's fine with Lopez.
"I feel really good about that, too," she says. "Now, it's up to America. I really feel we've put 11 amazing contestants in front of them and now it's [a question of] who they're favorite is, who's going to be their American Idol. I feel really good about putting that in their hands."
