Geraldine Ferraro Funeral Held Today

Geraldine Ferraro died Saturday after a 12 year battle with myeloma, cancer of the blood. Geraldine was most notable the first woman to run for Vice President in 1984 alongside Walter Mondale. Geraldine worked as a public servant serving in Congress. Later in her career until her death she raised money for female candidates and was inducted in The Women’s Hall of Fame in 1994. A private funeral is being held for her today, March 31, in New York.

Myeloma is cancer of the blood; over 10,000 people a year are diagnosed every year, according to Wikipedia.
