Orlando Bloom "camped it up" on the set of 'The Three Musketeers'.
The British actor plays the role of the Duke of Buckingham in the forthcoming remake, and he admits he relished the chance to play a bad guy for the first time.
He said: "I think I camped it up quite a lot, actually. This was my first time playing a villain.
"I had the costume, the big hairdo. I was like, 'I'm camping it up!' Like a petulant child."
However the 34-year-old hunk - who stars alongside Milla Jovovich and Juno Temple in the new movie - confesses he was not a fan of the last inceptions of the film starring Charlie Sheen and Kiefer Sutherland in 1993 and Olive Reed in 1973, but took guidance from older versions.
He told Shortlist magazine: "I was more into 'Indiana Jones' and 'Star Wars' and 'Superman'. But I did go back and look at a really old black and white 'Musketeers' film starring Douglas Fairbanks.
"That was very funny. It's a silent movie with everyone flailing their arms about madly. But it's such a universal story that people keep coming back to it."
