Guillaume Henry thinks Riccardo Tisci will be the ideal person to take over at Christian Dior.
The fashion house has been looking for a new creative director following the sacking of John Galliano and the Carven designer thinks his former Givenchy boss would be able to handle the pressure, although isn't sure if he would want the coveted role.
He told vogue.co.uk: "He can do so many things, of course. I don't know if he will do it, but definitely he could. Look what he has done at Givenchy. When you think of it, you used to think of Audrey Hepburn. You don't think of her any more, but it's still Givenchy."
Henry says the Dior job isn't something he's interested in at the moment as he wants to concentrate on his role at Carven.
He said: "I work with pleasure but I can't imagine doing anything but this. The first thing I wanted to do was establish the Carven DNA - and I'm comfortable with that now. There's lots to do here."
Alexa Chung is a huge fan of Carven and Henry says it's very flattering to her in their prices.
He said: "We adore her. The girl in the spring/ summer 2011 lookbook does look a little like her, but that happened really by chance. She's great because she doesn't try to be anyone else; she's just a really cool girl, but without looking like she spent hours getting ready. Her look has no frontal sexuality, but it's so attractive. There's a light around her."
