McFly land reality show

McFly are set to star in their own reality TV show.

The British band - which is comprised of Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd, Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter – have signed a deal with Channel 5’s digital broadcaster 5* to make a behind-the-scenes programme called ‘McFly On The Wall’, which will follow them on their current UK tour.

Tom said: "We're all really excited to have the chance to show our fans what it's really like being in McFly!

"We'll have a camera crew following us everywhere, so viewers will get a real insight into what goes on behind the scenes."

Channel 5's head of digital channels Kate Barnes said she is delighted the ‘Party Girl’ hitmakers have teamed up with the channel and promised viewers “no-holds-barred access” to the group.

She said: "McFly are without a doubt one of the most popular bands in the country, and this series will give 5* viewers a unique perspective on what it's like to live through the highs and lows of life on the road."

The Apprentice candidates more driven

Karren Brady has told viewers to expect contestants who are more "driven" and business-orientated in this year's 'The Apprentice'.

Karren Brady says this year's 'The Apprentice' will attract more "driven" contestants.

In the new series the winner will receive £250,000 from Lord Alan Sugar to set up a new business with him and viewers are told to expect more experienced individuals who aren't as sales-driven as previous hopefuls.

Karren, Alan's assistant on the show, said: "I think somebody who wants to own their own business has a different sort of personality to somebody who wants to work in somebody else's business.

"I think that you'll find that they're far more driven individuals that have invented things, have run their own businesses and have managed businesses."

The businesswoman went on to describe how the show will differ from previous series, with the tasks particularly focussing on making money from scratch.

She continued to Digital Spy: "The tasks will be all geared to starting up a business, setting up a business, coming up with an idea for a business. It's going to have a really different feel about it, because it's going to be focused much more on how you make money out of an idea."

The 41-year-old executive also talked of the upcoming 'Junior Apprentice', saying she's confident the show will continue to get high ratings despite other reality TV shows such as 'The X Factor' airing.

She said: "Obviously, they'll be on different nights... when you're staying at home to watch TV, I think you get used to a pattern of sitting down as a family to watch and you enjoy it.

That's why 'The X Factor' is so popular and that's why 'The Apprentice' is so popular, really. Being the junior one, it is really great family viewing."

In previous seasons of ‘The Apprentice’, candidates have competed for a job within one of Alan’s companies.

Chris Fountain not like Tommy Duckworth

‘Coronation Street’ star Chris Fountain insists he is nothing like his ladies man character Tommy Duckworth.

Chris Fountain insists he is nothing like his ‘Coronation Street’ alter ego.

The 23-year-old actor recently made his debut in the soap playing ladies man Tommy Duckworth, and Chris insists he is happily settled with girlfriend Jessica Derrick and is not as confident around women as his character.

He said: “I’ve very settled and enjoying it – I’m probably the opposite of Tommy Duckworth right now.

“Tommy’s completely different to me. I’d be really nervous chatting up a girl I didn’t know – I’d have to be introduced beforehand. But Tommy exudes confidence.”

Chris came second in ‘Dancing on Ice’ in 2008 and was pleased when show bosses said he didn’t have to join other contestants in having a spray tan – though he was dismayed when ‘Coronation Street’ chiefs told him he needed a bronzed glow to make his portrayal of Tommy believable, as the character is returning to Weatherfield following a year of travelling the world.

He added in an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I thought I’d got away with it!

“I don’t like them much. My toes look like someone’s been rubbing Marmite on them at the moment – it’s not the greatest look.”
