Public Memorial to be Held for Caylee Anthony

George and Cindy Anthony have announced that they plan to a hold private and public memorial for slain granddaughter Caylee Anthony, whose body was found a half a mile from their home earlier this month.

Caylee was 2-years-old when she disappeared in June. Her mother Casey Anthony, who was charged with her murder in October although no body had been found yet, didn’t report her missing until May. Caylee’s skeletal remains were found earlier this month by a utility worker. A medical examiner ruled her death a homicide although there was no trauma to the bones. The cause of death is unknown.

The Anthonys have not announced a date or time for the public memorial. The couple are asking that no donations be made towards the cost of Caylee’s funeral.

“The Anthony appreciate and respect the public show of love and affection for little Caylee, their only granddaughter. It is their intention to have both a private ceremony as well as public ceremony. The Anthony want to begin the process of healing not only for themselves, but for out entire community,” said attorney Brad Conway. "The public memorial will have to be located at a large venue so that everyone who wants to pay their last respects to this beautiful child may do so.”

“It is important that people's kind donations of hard-earned money during difficult times go toward their intended wishes,” he added. “All money currently held in any account dedicated to finding Caylee will be given to an as-yet-undetermined nonprofit organization devoted to finding missing children.”
