David Boreanaz, who stars as Agent Booth in the Fox show ‘Bones” was hit with a sexual harassment suit in 2009. Actress Kristina Hagan claimed Boreanaz sent her sexually inappropriate text messages. Hagan initiated the suit when the married Boreanaz began ‘sexting’ and flirting with her after a guest appearance on the show. Both parties are being silent on the particulars of the case and the settlement, but Boreanaz’s reps initially denied her claims. Fox Television was also named as a defendant and also had no comment about the settlement and now the matter has been resolved.
He also touched her breasts and touched himself while offering to give her a permanent role in the show; sexual harassment lawyers call this quid pro quo harassment. Quid pro Quo, offering a position or raise for sexual favors is fairly common in the workplace. In David Boreanaz’s case the victim was a woman but this type of harassment is also perpetrated on men as well given the fact that modern women hold high positions in the workforce.
Being touched inappropriately or being subjected to sexual innuendos while on the job can be degrading and creates a hostile work environment which will be alleviated by retaining a sexual harassment attorney. Many instances of sexual harassment go unreported for fear of repercussions. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and sexual harassment lawyers work to eliminate harassment and disrespect of a sexual nature from the workplace.
