Dave Grohl's big crowd fears

Dave Grohl can't get used to performing in stadiums.

The Foo Fighters frontman is still stunned by the popularity of his band and admits he had a "freaked-out breakdown" when they performed to a huge crowd at London's Wembley stadium in 2008 because he couldn't believe the size of the crowd.

Recalling a moment in the show where he stopped playing, which is documented in a new film about the group, he said: "That was an honest, freaked-out emotional breakdown.

"(Drummer) Taylor Hawkins and I play off each other live and at that point he wasn't sure what was going on. But I'd been terrified every night for six months before those shows. I mean, 85,000 f***ing people!

"We'll never get used to playing stadiums. We've weathered some pretty questionable music and style changes over the years, and there's always a worry that people will forget about us."

Dave also admitted he insisted on seeing the group's film, 'Foo Fighters: Back and Forth' - which chronicles their 16-year career - before the rest of the band because he worried it could cause problems with their friendships.

He said: "I didn't want it to become a problem. I wanted it to be a good thing, but it was totally cool.

"Watching it, I saw that each person in the band had an uncomfortable moment, me included. Everyone did and I thought it was good because it means we're getting to the truth."
