Palestinian Militants Fire Rockets into Southern Israel

One day after three Islamist militants belonging to Hamas were killed by Israeli forces the group has fired a series of mortars and rockets into southern Israel in retaliation. There have been no reports of injuries in the attacks.

While no injuries were reported in Israel there were injuries reported in Gaza where several of the rockets fell short of their target. Israelis said at least 30 rockets and 30 mortars struck over night.

Israel and Hamas saw their ceasefire deal collapse last week after six months. Both sides have blamed each other as Hamas has said Israel failed to follow through with terms of the ceasefire which included the lifting of a blockade while Israel has said the blockade stalled due to Hamas’ failure to end rocket attacks and arms smuggling.
