William D. Proudfoot, West Virginia State Delegate, Killed in Car Accident

William D. Proudfoot, a State Delegate from West Virginia, was killed in a car accident Tuesday night when his truck overturned after sliding off an icy road on U.S. 33.

Proudfoot had been traveling with several members of his family when he lost control of his Ford F-250 and went off the road and he was ejected from the vehicle when it overturned. Four familymember swer einjured in the accident and taken to Davis Memorial Hospital where their condition is unknown.

The 68-year-old Proudfoot was vice chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and had served in the House since 1990.

Learning about Proudfoot’s death West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin stated, “We've had a long friendship and there was not a finer human being, father, husband or legislator. He was one of the most positive people I've ever known.”
