Harold Pinter, the Nobel Prize-winning playwright whose works included “The Caretaker,” “The Homecoming,” and “The Birthday Party,” has died at the age of 78 after a long battle with cancer.
The English-born Pinter became a dominant figure in British theater in the 1950s and his works continued for the next five decades.
While best known as a playwright, Pinter excelled as a screenwriter, actor, director and poet and was an outspoken political activist who often challenged the foreign policies of the U.S. and UK.
