Israel Threatens Hamas Following Rocket Attacks

Israel has warned the Palestinian militant group Hamas that any future rocket attacks could be met with Israeli strikes against them or any other militant group.

The warning comes just one day after rockets and mortars were fired by Hamas into southern Israel. Those attacks were in response to three members of Hamas who were allegedly killed by Israeli forces.

A ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas had lasted six-months but that ended last week when the three soldiers were killed. While Hamas has blamed Israel for the murders Israel has said the men were killed while launching rockets.

Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni warned Hamas that any future rocket attacks could be met with counter strikes, “Hamas needs to understand that our aspiration to live in peace doesn't mean that Israel is going to take this kind of situation any longer. Enough is enough.”

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert backed those comments with an even more stern warning stating, “I will not hesitate to use Israel's might to strike Hamas and (Islamic) Jihad. How? I will not go into details now.”
