Starr Tincup Posts Record First-Quarter Revenue

New Partners, Alliances, Staff and Services Fuel Banner Quarter

Starr Tincup, a full-service marketing agency dedicated to the human capital management (HCM) software and services industry, is proud to announce a record-breaking first quarter. The firm booked more than $5 million in capitalized billings between Jan. 1 and March 31 and is well on the way to exceeding its 2011 goal of $20 million.

“Operational initiatives begun in the second half of 2010 along with a burgeoning economic recovery in the HCM market segment have provided us with an opportunity to grow our revenue,” said Bret Starr, partner at Starr Tincup. “But the real story has been authored by our amazing clients, who continue to outperform the industry and are taking us along for the ride.”

Major operational initiatives fueling the firm’s first-quarter success included:

·   The buyout of co-founder and former partner William Tincup

·   Four new partners: Kevin Mangum, Dan McCarron, Mark Mitchell and Steve Smith

·   Several transcendent hires in account management and creative services

·   Strategic alliances with BlueSky PR (a London-based PR firm) and HRxAnalysts (a brand-measurement shop led by George LaRocque and John Sumser)

·   Bolstered brand and message services

“Buying out my former business partner created new ownership opportunities within the firm,” said Starr. “The resulting elevation of four key employees to the rank of partner, and owner, has resulted in new energy, new ideas and better execution across the firm. Without question, the addition of my new business partners has unlocked a higher level of potential for Starr Tincup.”

Starr expects continued growth throughout 2011. “Our client satisfaction and retention have been phenomenal under the stalwart management of Kevin Mangum,” he said. “Mark Mitchell has elevated business development beyond all previous efforts. Dan McCarron has imbued operations with a new level of fiscal discipline. Starr Tincup also engineered two blockbuster hires during the first quarter of 2011. Jonathan Goodman rejoined the firm after a successful four-year tenure with HRmarketer.com to serve as a senior account executive on major accounts. Another major hire will be announced later in April.

Starr also revealed plans to change the firm’s name and brand in the second half of 2011.  “Obviously, we’ve been through some significant change and growth. Our name and brand need to reflect the firm we are today and the firm we will be in the future.”
