Miami Heat guard Dwywane Wade could miss the Heat's Wednesday night's home game against the Milwaukee Bucks because of an injury that he received during the team's Sunday victory over the New Jersey Nets.
Wade suffered what the team is calling a "right lateral thigh contusion" during the team's 108-94 victory over the Nets on Sunday evening. During the first quarter of the game, Wade was kneed in his thigh by Nets forward Travis Outlaw.
According to the Sun-Sentinel, the team may choose to rest Wade on Wednesday, thus allowing him to fully recover before the playoffs start.
"It's just real sore," said Wade, who is currently third in the league in scoring, with 25.7 points per game. "I'll take the next couple of days, and get treatment and rest, and I'm sure I'll be a game-time decision on Wednesday."
LeBron James, who shares a large chunk of the offensive weight for the Heat with Wade, agrees with the idea of letting Wade rest as much as he needs to before the playoffs.
"He knows at this point he doesn't have to push it," said LeBron. "We need him more later than we do now."
The Heat have only 5 games left in the regular season. With a 54-23 record, they are currently a half-game ahead of Boston for the No. 2 seed and 2.5 games behind the Chicago Bulls for the No. 1 spot.
