NBA Scores: San Antonio Spurs Drop Phoenix Suns on Game-Winning Three from Roger Mason

Tony Parker scored 27 points and dished out 8 assists, Tim Duncan added 25 points and grabbed 17 rebounds and Roger Mason hit a game-winning three-pointer as time expired to lift the visiting San Antonio Spurs (19-10) past the Phoenix Suns (16-12) 91-90 on Christmas Day.

Phoenix scored the first 11 points of the game and led by as many as 13 in the first quarter before the Spurs cut their deficit to 27-18 by the end of the opening frame. The Spurs pulled to within two in the second before Shaquille O’Neal scored six straight to give the Suns a 37-29 advantage and by the end of the first half Phoenix led 45-39.

Parker brought the Spurs even in the third quarter with an 18-foot jumper and Duncan gave San Antonio their first lead next time down the court with a 20-footer to put the score at 54-52. Phoenix managed to grab the lead back and O’Neal hit his last five free-throws to end the quarter to give the Suns a 76-71 lead heading into the fourth.

San Antonio hung close and Michael Finley tied the game at 79-79 with a jumper and after Parker scored seven straight for the Spurs they had an 88-84 lead. Jason Richardson pulled the Suns to with 88-87 with a three-pointer with 3:06 left in the game.

Both teams went into a scoring drought until Steve Nash hit a technical to even the game at 88-88 with a minute left and then Grant Hill gave the Suns a 90-88 advantage when he scored with four seconds left in the game. San Antonio answered though as Parker drove the lane and dished off to Mason for the game-winner as the horn sounded.

The win was the fourth straight for the Spurs and pulled them even with the Houston Rockets in the Southwest Division.
