SuperCamp at LMU offers two unique programs for different age groups, a Junior Forum for middle school students entering grades 6 through 8 in the fall, and a Senior Forum for teens entering grades 9 through 12. Junior Forum, designed to teach middle school students academic and life skills to help them be more successful inside and outside the classroom, is offered from July 13-19, 2011. During this 7-day session, students discover their individual learning styles and develop skills for dealing with a heavier academic and social schedule. They also learn real-world skills by participating in “real-life” activities that enable them to make responsible choices and win the support, understanding, and guidance of their teachers, parents, and peers.
For high school students, Senior Forum offers techniques on how to make the most of every moment, uncover their unique abilities, and develop greater confidence while mastering strategies for academic and personal success. The skills that campers learn through the Senior Forum program help to ease school stress, build study skills, improve grades, and increase test scores, including the SAT and ACT. Students also learn life skills that encourage them to discover their strengths, pursue goals, make big decisions, solve problems, and resolve conflicts. Senior Forum is hosted at LMU from July 22-31.
Parent Weekend will be held from July 29-31 and will allow parents of SuperCamp students the opportunity to experience for themselves the same knowledge their kids receive through an action-packed 3-day weekend. These parent support camps help parents understand more about the academic and life skills their children learn at SuperCamp. This allows parents to better relate to and support their teens following SuperCamp, and allows parents to appreciate their child’s accomplishments even more.
