Champs Sports Bowl Scores: Florida State Seminoles Roll Past Wisconsin Badgers

Christian Ponder was 18/31 passing for 199 yards and a pair of touchdowns, Greg Carr had 78 yards receiving and a TD and Carlton Jones added 55 yards and a score on the ground as the Florida State Seminoles (9-4) rolled past the Wisconsin Badgers (7-6) 42-13 in the Champs Sports Bowl on Saturday.

After a scoreless first quarter it was the Seminoles defense that put the first points of the game on the board as Derek Nicholson collected a fumble and went 75 yards for a touchdown and after Philip Welch but three points on the board for the Badgers with a 31-yard field goal Ponder hit Carr on a 15-yard TD toss and the Seminoles were up 14-3 at the half.

Welch added a field goal in the third quarter to pull the Badgers to within 14-6 but Antone Smith found the endzone on a 6-yard run to push the Seminoles advantage to 21-6 and then Jones scored on a 14-yard run and FSU was up 28-6 heading into the final frame.

Florida State got more help from their defense early in the fourth as Dekoda Watson gathered a fumble and went 51 yards for a touchdown and the Seminoles were cruising. Ponder then put the game away when he found Caz Piurowski on a 10-yard touchdown pass to give the Seminoles a 42-6 lead. Wisconsin managed to score a late touchdown when Dustin Sherer hit Elijah Theus on a 20-yard toss but it was too little too late.
