The Florida elder law attorneys of The Karp Law Firm were out in force at the Port St. Lucie, Florida "Memory Walk" fundraiser on March 26. Florida Certified Elder Law Specialist and Nationally Certified Elder Law Attorney Joseph S. Karp headed up the "Karp Kommandos" team, which also included Attorney Genny Bernstein, Attorney Adele Harris, and many other members of the law firm staff.
Karp, founder of The Karp Elder Law and
Estate Planning Firm, is a longtime member of the Board of Directors of The Southeast Florida Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. The chapter serves Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Broward, Miami-Dade, Okeechobee and Monroe counties. Memory Walks are a major fundraiser for the chapter, with proceeds going to Alzheimer's research.
Karps Kommandos will also be walking in the next fundraiser, scheduled for April 9 in West Palm Beach along the Flagler waterfront.
Nearly half a million Floridians have Alzheimer's Disease. Nationwide, 15 million family members are providing 17 billion hours of unpaid caregiving services for patients; the total value is estimated to be just over $200 billion. Without a cure, these numbers will increase dramatically as the population ages, putting greater stress on families, local governments and our health care system.
The Karp Law Firm's elder law attorneys provide legal guidance to the growing number of Florida residents with Alzheimer's Disease and their families. When the disease strikes, it affects entire families psychologically, legally and financially. Sound legal planning can help smooth the transition as the disease progresses, and plan for the extraordinary expense of long-term nursing care which most Alzheimer's patients will require at some point. Our Florida elder law attorneys help clients with:
Durable Power of Attorney
Health Care Power of Attorney
Advising on eligibility for Medicaid benefits for long-term care
Filing the Medicaid application
Advising on the availability of Veterans benefits for long-term nursing home care, at-home care, or assisted living care
Analysis and modification of the spouse's estate planning
Preparation of wills and trusts to ensure the patient's assets are distributed according to his/her wishes after death
The Karp Law Firm maintains offices in Palm Beach Gardens, Boynton Beach and Port St. Lucie, Florida.
