NFL Scores Week 17: Houston Texans End Chicago Bears Playoff Hopes, Finish .500 on the Year

Matt Schaub was 27/36 passing for 328 yards and a pair of touchdowns, Andre Johnson had 148 yards receiving and two TDs and Steve Slaton added 92 yards and a score on the ground as the Houston Texans (8-8) beat the Chicago Bears (9-7) 31-24 on Sunday to end the Bears hopes of a playoff berth.

Chicago jumped to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter as Kyle Orton hit Brandon Lloyd on a 4-yard touchdown pass and Robbie Gould booted a 37-yard field goal but the Texans answered in the second frame as Schaub hit Johnson on a 43-yard TD pass and then the two hooked up on a 3-yard TD to take the lead 14-10 at the break.

Ryan Moats extended the Texans lead to 21-10 with a 2-yar touchdown run in the third quarter but Orton found Greg Olsen on a one-yard toss to pull the Bears to within 21-17 heading into the fourth.

Kris Brown pushed the Texans advantage to 24-17 with a 22-yard field goal early in the final frame and then Slaton shut the door on the Bears with a 2-yard touchdown run with 3:24 left in the game. Orton managed to score on a one-yard keeper with 1:31 left on the clock but the Bears season ended there as Houston preserved the win.
