From The Terminator to The Governor to The Governator… He’s Back.

After spending the last few years as Governor of California, former bodybuilder turned actor turned California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced his intention to return to the world of acting.  During the announcement, Schwarzenegger would reveal that he had not one, but several different scripts on the table for his consideration.  The announcement had Schwarzenegger fans worldwide salivating at the possibilities – the question is, which franchise would Schwarzenegger return to, Predator, True Lies, or his signature Terminator series of films?

Could it be… None of the above?  Though it is wholly possible Schwarzenegger may return to the aforementioned franchises at some point, for the time being he has only officially announced coming back in cartoon form.  That’s right, Arnold Schwarzenegger will be a cartoon super hero called, wait for it… The Governator.  According to Schwarzenegger, there will be the cartoon, a comic book series, a movie (presumably live action) in addition to plenty of merchandising which will tie in to the comics, cartoons, and movie (VIDEO GAMES AND TOYS!).

The proposed Governator cartoon series could air in 2012, and if successful, a movie could come to fruition in 2013.  As one could probably guess, the series itself is apparently about a retired governor turned super hero/crime fighter living in Brentwood, California.  The hero of the same series title will allegedly work out of a headquarters located below his home, somewhat reminiscent of Bruce Wayne/Batman’s batcave.

For those fans that have seen the laughingly bad Governator cartoon series trailer, there is still hope for the once great action star.  Rumors have Schwarzenegger co-starring in The Expendables II, alongside “Sly” Stallone, as well as a new action-thriller titled The Last Stand, which will allegedly be directed by Jee-Woon Kim.

So, whether we like it or not, Schwarzenegger has kept to his age old promise; he’s back.
