Family wins $9 Million Judgment against Dow

By: Daun Lee

A jury in Dallas Texas awarded the family of a contractor who died from mesothelioma. Robert Henderson worked with Dow insulators which contained asbestos. The Jury decided that Dow was partially responsible for Henderson’s death because they continued to use asbestos even though they were aware of the risks associated with exposure. Mesothelioma attorneys have worked for many sufferers of mesothelioma to receive similar judgments.

Asbestos is known as the direct cause of mesothelioma which is a type of cancer where malignant tumors grow in the lining of the lungs and sometimes the heart. The prognosis of patients who are diagnosed with mesothelioma isn’t promising as there is no cure. The dangers of asbestos have been known for many decades, Dow was made aware in 1968, but many companies still used asbestos until it the EPA restricted its use in the late 80’s. The danger of asbestos exposure has leaded the many lawsuits headed by mesothelioma lawyers to compensate victims of mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma has no known cure and is very aggressive, most people very little time left once a diagnosis has been made. Those who work on naval ships, shipyards or the many different occupations involved in construction are at high risk for contracting the lethal lung cancer. Because mesothelioma takes decades to manifest, more and more people die every year from asbestos exposure. Finding a mesothelioma attorney can assure the victims of the disease and their families will receive financial rewards for the pain they endure.
