Hip Hop artist Lil Wayne had plans to play in Britain but was denied entry to the country. He and his crew were stopped by Border Patrol when attempting to get to their County Cork, Ireland gig. They refused him entry because of his criminal convictions in the US. In 2009 the rapper pleaded guilty to weapons charges and spent eight months in jail. He also was nabbed at the US/Mexico border for having marijuana, ecstasy and cocaine on his tour bus, for those charges he received three years’ probation. Looks like the Brits won’t be jamming to Lil Wayne any time soon.
Criminal charges affect a person’s ability to get traveling visas and immigration visas. If an individual wishes to immigrate to the US but has a criminal record an immigration attorney may be able to help that person, depending on the severity of the crime. People make mistakes but sometimes those mistakes are detrimental to their future if they try to migrate to a new country.
People want to immigrate to improve their lives generally, but any criminal indiscretions will be scrutinized. Employing an immigration lawyer becomes crucial if anyone has made mistakes. Not all convictions prevent an individual from gaining citizenship. Even if a person who wishes to immigrate hasn’t been in any legal trouble, guidance from an immigration attorney would give them a better chance of their citizenship application being approved.
