New Jersey Nets Fined $50K Over Jay-Z Visit

NBA Team Fined for Prohibited Behavior

The New Jersey Nets have been fined $50,000 because Nets minority owner Jay-Z visited some University of Kentucky basketball players after the Wildcats had clinched a Final Four berth.

According to sources with knowlege of the penalty, the Nets are being fined for having violated league rules that prohibit contact with players who still have collegiate basketball eligibility.

The NBA's investigation was triggered by a video that showed rapper Jay-Z visiting with various Kentucky players in their locker room after the Wildcats' quarterfinals victory over North Carolina.
