Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston Welcome a Son

Alaskan governor Sarah Palin’s 18-year-old son daughter Bristol Palin has given birth to a baby boy. Bristol and fiancé Levi Johnston welcomed Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston on Sunday in Palmer, Alaska. Tripp weighed in at 7 lbs, 4 oz.

“We think it’s wonderful. The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited,” says Sally Heath, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother.

Bristol and Levi announced the pregnancy earlier this year. The couple is engaged and plan to wed in 2009. The news came after Republican presidential candidate John McCain named Sarah Palin his running mate.
