Atlanta
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has been named the AP’s top offensive rookie
after leading his squad to an 11-5 record and a playoff berth one year after the
club finished 4-12 and in complete chaos.
Ryan
had a quick jump on the competition as his first NFL pass went 62-yards for a
touchdown in the Falcons season opener. From that point on he tossed another 15
touchdowns while amassing 3440 yards passing and completing 61.1 percent of his
passes.
Ryan
was a clear winner in the vote with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco
finishing a distant second. Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson; Denver
Broncos wide receiver Eddie Royal; Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte; and
Houston Texans running back Steve Slaton where among the other contenders for the
award.
