Belgian tennis star Kim Clijsters injured her right ankle at her cousin's wedding and may miss the French Open due to the injury.
A statement posted on Clijsters' website on Sunday says that she might be out for at least four to six weeks.
"Since the French Open starts in literally six weeks, Kim's presence in Paris is very uncertain," read the statement.
According to the statement, Clijsters has strained ligaments in her right ankle and has torn an ankle joint capsule and tendon sheath.
Understandably, the statement also says that "The consequences are serious."
Clijsters, 27, won the last two Grand Slam tournaments, beating Vera Zvonareva in the 2010 U.S. Open women's finals and Li Na in the 2011 Australian Open women's finals.
Unfortunately, last week, Clijsters anounced that she'd be sidelined for a month due to shoulder and wrist injuries. And now with an ankle injury to deal with, Clijster's return timeline is quite uncertain.
