Subway Bomb Kills Seven in Belarus

The rush hour in Minsk, Belarus was rocked by a bombing on the subway. Seven people were killed and over 40 people were injured. The Russian neighbor hasn’t been subjected to terrorism like Moscow so today’s bombing is shocking. The blast destroyed part of the station, according to the New York Daily News. No group has been accused of the bombing but political tensions have been increasing over the election of Alexander Lukashenko for his fourth term. Many people on the country believe the December 2010 elections were rigged and protests have caused the government to crackdown on dissidents.

Living in country where political unrest is present can be hard and drive many people to seek asylum in safer countries. Refugees are a class of people who immigrate to a different country for fear of persecution or personal safety. The US is liberal in regards to immigration and accepts thousands upon thousands of refugees on an annual basis.
