Elijah Wood excited about Hobbit time travelling

Elijah Wood can't wait to start work on 'The Hobbit' because it will be like "travelling back in time".

The 29-year-old actor - who played Frodo Baggins in the 'Lords of the Rings' series - will appear in the forthcoming movie prequel, despite his character not featuring in the original J.R.R. Tolkein novel, and Elijah revealed he cannot wait to read the script and catch up with his friends from the film franchise.

He said: "There will be plenty of old friends that will be a part of it. Largely I would imagine the entire crew would be relatively the same. So in some ways I think it's going to be a very surreal journey. It will feel like travelling back in time a little. And I'm excited to read the script."

As his character doesn't appear in the book, Elijah is curious as to how the writers have incorporated Frodo into the script and how they have created two movies from 'The Hobbit'.

He explained to Comingsoon.net: "I'm very excited to see what they've done with 'The Hobbit.' They've stretched it out over the course of two films - I'm so curious as to what other elements they've woven in, because there are certainly additional works that refer to that same time period that they could weave into it. So I'm just very excited to sort of see what the ultimate vision is."

Martin Freeman has signed on to portray Bilbo Baggins in the movie, with comrades including James Nesbitt and Rob Kazinsky.

The majority of the cast of 'Lord of the Rings' will star in the forthcoming prequels, including Sir Ian McKellen as wizard Gandalf and Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, but Liv Tyler - who played Arwen - will not be returning for the movie.

She said recently: "I haven't heard from anybody and that makes me kind of sad."
