Files detail UFO sightings

Details of UFO sightings in America have been made public and include reports of aerial explosions and objects falling from the sky.

The FBI files, which are now available for all to read for the first time, include a memo entitled 'Flying Discs' which describes how a policeman, a highway patrolman and an army guard witnessed a strange object in the sky on the night of April 4, 1949.

A "silver coloured object high up approaching the mountains at Sardine Canyon" which "appeared to explode in a rash of fire" is reported as well as "two aerial explosions, followed by a falling object".

Another file details sightings of: "Three so-called flying saucers recovered in New Mexico."
