Alcohol Abuse Rehab Myths Exposed

DrugRehabs.info exposes some common misconceptions about alcohol rehab.

According to DrugRehabs.info, there are several myths in the field of alcohol abuse rehabilitation that are accepted as "common fact" but actually are not scientifically or medically proven at all.

This list of common myths was compiled from the misconceptions that DrugRehabs.info's drug counselors have to wade through on a daily basis when trying to help someone find the right alcohol rehab program.

One of the common myths that this new article debunks is the statement that "Alcoholism is a brain disease."

Actually the article states that there is no evidence whatsoever of alcoholism being a brain disease.  It further points out that many people who receive this label actually have a harder time recovering from alcoholism because they are led to believe that they have a permanent mental disability.

Another one of the alcohol abuse center myths that the article took on was "once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic".  Actually this article says that, again, there is no proof for this assertion, but rather it has persisted because "Twelve Step" programs are in the vast majority and this is one of their major tenets.

The article pointed out that the more people know about the truth about alcoholism, the more likely it is for them to accomplish recovery.
