Mystery writer Donald Westlake died on December 31.
Westlake died suddenly of an apparent heart attack while vacationing in Mexico
with his wife Abigail. He was 75.
Westlake wrote more than 90 books and won many awards for
his work, including three Edgar Awards and an Academy Award for his screenplay ‘The
Grifters.’ He wrote under several other names, including Richard Stark, Tucker
Coe, Samuel Holt and Edwin West.
Westlake’s last novel, ‘Get Real,’ is due to be released
in April 2009.
Westlake is survived by his wife, four sons from a
previous marriage, three stepchildren and four grandchildren.
