The Taliban claimed responsibility for a suicide attack at a police station in eastern Afghanistan Thursday morning. Afghan officials say four men armed with explosives tried to enter a police training compound in Paktia province.
Only one of the men was able to detonate his explosives. District governor Azad Gull said three police officers died in the explosion and two others were injured. Police officers shot and killed one of the attackers. The other two managed to escape.
"(We) have killed many local policemen during the attack on a local police center," Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mojahed said.
Meanwhile, two other attacks on Thursday left a total of 6 people wounded. Authorities say two women were injured when a suicide bomber detonated his explosive laden belt in the city of Kandahar. In the second attack, a truck packed with explosives injured three police officer and one civilian when it blew up outside a district governor’s office in Kabul.
